The annual race is held in Cape Town between the Indian and Atlantic oceans and is one of the largest in the world. Every year the number of participants increases (70.000) featuring South African and international riders. The race ends in Green Point at the Stadium, which is 5 minutes form Sweet Orange.

After the local "Comrades" Marathon in Natal the "Two Oceans" Marathon is the 2nd largest on the continent. Both amateur and professional runners rate this as the most beautiful race in the world.
